Hit The Rim

Come up with an experiential idea for Nike that encourages young girls to get into basketball.

INSIGHT

No other feeling in the world can be as motivating and empowering as setting a goal and achieving it, especially when no one expects you to.

IDEA

Nike and the WNBA will partner to create the Hit the Rim challenge exclusively for women. It aims to reclaim some of the most famous streetball courts in the U.S. and reclaim them in the name of women’s sports empowerment.

EXECUTION

Some of the most famous basketball courts for spotting out street talent (Rucker park, The Cage, Venice Beach Courts, 16th and susquehanna, etc.) are now being reclaimed for women. Nike sets up basketball hoops that progress in height near these locations with tagline Hit the Rim on the backboard, and challenges women to do just that.

Partnering with WNBA star athletes like Brittney Griner, Nike displays these women hitting the rim of the basketball hoops in every location on their social media with the hashtag #leaveyourmark.

All women are encouraged to leave their mark by hitting the rim with stickers or hand paint, marking these territories as theirs forever.
